“Showdown at Possum Trot” by David Watts is good old-fashioned Western fun. It’s got plenty of bad guys, including one very bad guy (Horse Diggins) who runs the whorehouse but, of course, wants to run everything. It’s got a stand-up sheriff with a quick temper and a quick gun, a whore with a heart of gold, a medicine man who used to be (or maybe still is) the fastest gun around and a parson who believes in helping the Lord serve justice.
The action is fast-paced, with a few fistfights and plenty of gun battles. Watts has a way of allowing his good guys to make things right in unusual, but always fun, ways. There is a bit of cursing and a couple of rape scenes that you might want to be aware of. “Possum Trot” has a satisfying ending, as the book builds to a crescendo, and Watts has set the scene to make this a series that will have readers eagerly awaiting the next entry.
I hope you’ll give “Showdown at Possum Trot” a try, and I’d love to hear your feedback.
Thank you, and enjoy!
