The working title is “Wolf,” and I’m just getting started.

I realize that in my October 5th blog post, I referenced a book, Wolf, which I have started to write. I feel that I should share a bit more information about the book. As I’ve written previously, I am a fan of the Western genre (books and movies) and particularly of Louis L’Amour. I have long thought it would be fun to try and write a Western, so I’ve recently started. The working title is Wolf, and I’m just getting started. Most of L’Amours books are in the 50,000 – 60,000-word category, so I’m guessing that will be the case with mine. I’m only about 10 percent of the way into the book, but I like the direction. The story is unfolding and the characters are developing as I write it, so it’s exciting from that point of view. I just finished Chapter 2 and while I know what happens in Chapter 3, I do not know beyond that. It’s a little scary, but motivating at the same time. Frankly, I’m looking forward to seeing what happens. I do have a prologue that I need to circle back to, so I can’t get too far off the tracks, but there’s quite a bit of leeway. I have published one book and I have three others in various stages, not counting Wolf. But all of those are non-fiction. This is a complete new challenge and quite a bit of time. I am calling on friends for advice (if you have any, please let me know!), and they have been generous. I think that I’ll post the prologue soon and ask for thoughts, suggestions and reactions. It’ll be fun –– and scary –– to let people into the process, but I have to believe it will make the product better. Thanks again for reading these blogs!
